On neurotechnology to restore common sense

With neural intervention, many feats of behavioral modulation are possible. However, one barrier which may be impassable is that of programming ourselves to wear a helmet while on a bicycle or not to look down at our cell phone while we are walking. Sadly, we simply do not have powerful enough microscopes or probes to image or manipulate regions of the brain responsible for common sense, perception of danger, and the feeling that one is perceived as an imbecile, which have atrophied almost to the point of nonexistence in the individuals who suffer from these behaviors. With hope, our technology will improve to an extent that these maladies of common sense are curable.
